Use of Retinols with Exfoliants
I am aware that using retinols in combination with exfoliating products is known to not be good. I wanted to ask though, if I want to incorporate a retinol eye-cream around my eye/nose-bridge area, how would I actually do this while using exfoliants? I use Reedle-shot 100 right now, and I want to use a retinol eye-cream for my undereye.
Would I have to use the eye-cream after I have finished using reedle-shot for good, or can I use it whilst alternating days (i.e. day 1 reedle shot, day 2 no reedle shot and retinol eye-cream).

Hi there!
It’s great that you’re being cautious about incorporating a retinol eye cream while using an exfoliant—managing this balance is key to avoiding irritation. Here’s how you can safely approach it:Alternate Days:
Your idea of alternating days is spot on! You can use the Reedle-shot 100 (your exfoliant) on one day, followed by the retinol eye cream on the next. This gives your skin adequate time to recover between each active.
Start Slow:
Since the under-eye area is delicate, introduce the retinol eye cream gradually. Start by applying it just 2-3 times a week on non-exfoliation days. Once your skin adjusts, you can increase the frequency as needed.
Hydration First:
To buffer any potential irritation, apply a lightweight, hydrating eye cream (something with hyaluronic acid or ceramides) first, then layer the retinol eye cream on top. This creates a protective layer and minimizes the risk of dryness.
Gentle Application:
Use only a tiny amount (a rice-sized dot is more than enough) and gently pat the product around your orbital bone, avoiding being too close to your lash line or directly on your eyelid.
Sun Protection is a Must:
Both retinols and exfoliants make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so be extra diligent with your sunscreen. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and apply it daily—even around the eye area.
Monitor Sensitivity:
Watch out for signs of irritation like redness, dryness, or peeling. If you experience any discomfort, scale back either the exfoliant or the retinol usage temporarily and focus on calming, hydrating products.
This routine should allow you to eventually enjoy the benefits of both products without overloading your skin.
